Assessing Finite Control Set Model Predictive Speed Controlled PMSM Performance for Deployment in Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) have the main advantage of using sustainable forms energy to operate and can be integrated into electrical power grids for better management. An essential part EV propulsion system is type motor used propel EV. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) found extensive use due various advantages such as high density, excellent torque-to-weight ratio smooth speed profile over entire torque range. The objective this paper was improve dynamic response in different driving conditions EVs. This done by finite control set model predictive (FCS-MPC) algorithm PMSM comparing evaluating strategies a an taking two case studies. classical control, namely field-oriented (FOC), PMSMs slow adopt changes system. proposed FCS-MPC provides improved good steady-state shown both cases. In addition, Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) evaluate FCS-MPC-controlled depict its superior performance matching profile. results are verified hardware loop strategy OPAL-RT. Both confirm that algorithm, when compared with conventional FOC, aspects responses profiles.
